The Eyes Have It

Jeepers, show us those peepers. Highly emotive and/or creative shots of eyes. HUMANS OR HUMAN METAPHORS ONLY PLEASE?! contest details

The eyes are the windows to the soul. They reflect our moods, our state of mind and health, our feelings and our emotions. Capturing them is one of the greatest challenges of our art. How well can you photograph these elusive essences?

Or better yet, what metaphor can you create along this theme? Eyes gazing hopefully upward to the stars or cast humbly downward in introspection. The shy glance or the bold stare? The longing of love or the scowl of hate? Twinkling with joy or frowning in pain? Clouded by dreams or bright with realization.

Show us your stuff. But remember, humans only.

Nice one Dido. It looks like you give only 17 days for the semi-final to run, not much. The scoring definitions don't look complete. Only 55 entries are allowed... Are you sure you want non-anonymous voting for judges? How would you determine which entries are "non-thematic"? In other words, what is absolutely necessary to have to become thematic?

I hit soem wrong buttons I think getting used to the format. Frankly, I didn't have time to put much thought into these parts of the proposed contest, so I thought I'd leave it up to you since you've had more experience with what works best. You may set these paraameters to whatever you think will work

And I have many other ideas for contests if someone is willing to fill in some of the blanks.

Dido, have you finished the design? I'd like to publish it but at this stage it looks like just a rough draft

I think the idea could work. It's very intriquing.

Interesting idea, but why should it be limited to human eyes? I think the idea is good and may have some good results but I don't photograph humans that often... Think about it: animal's eyes are also expressive (and/or human interpretation of their expression).

i think it should also be humans and animals but big animals no birds

Great idea! Althought animals' eyes can be very expressive (and I personally love taking pictures of animals), I think that emothions and thoughts you can see in human eyes are much more interesting

#8 cjm: "big animals no birds"... how about a squid? or a cuttlefish? or a fish? have you ever seen the eye of an octopus?
