#2 Lorraine54(TheLoveBoatPromises SomethingForEveryone): the only reason for me posting this is that I cannot sail because of my broken finger so I took the photos ;o)
Do we need a new stream?
4 Lorraine54 (Don't worry be Happy and comment more)   (5/16/2007 6:19:44 AM)
Oh that sucks...hope it mends soon, at least you can still push the shutter button

5 Gaga (Dragan Babovic)   (5/16/2007 8:01:02 AM)
Good photo with broken finger. How it could be with healthy one? Nice dynamic sails and soft color balance.
6 KAY (........ .......)   (5/16/2007 9:17:22 AM)
the finish was close and the second boat look to be so close to hitting the finishing buoy ...cheers i think....
Hope your finger mends soon..:}
7 Tomel   (5/16/2007 9:19:56 AM)
Wonderful action/sport image. The power of the sea and wind is apparent and well presented. Regards, Tomel
8 CherylB (I only lie when I do not like your pic)   (5/16/2007 9:31:51 AM)
broken finger? I told you not to hit the keyboard so hard :)

this boat would probably win in a nice new stream..what do you call this particular boat?
9 nuno gaspar (miguel )   (5/16/2007 9:36:20 AM)
The webmaster doesn't have time to run the site but has the time to go on shooting with a brojen finger. Okay! The picture has nice mood, nice capture, the orange is distracting, IMHO. Regards.

#9 nuno gaspar(miguel ): you live up to your nickname very well
11 ChrisC (Christopher Cove)   (5/16/2007 9:40:56 AM)
Great action shot. I really get the sense of speed here!! Well done!!!
12 LindaY (Linda Y)   (5/16/2007 9:41:44 AM)
Very nicely done, Sergei. At first glance, I did not notice that there were two boats here. I love the wind full in the sails and the wave action. It looks like this might have been a cold day for sailing from the tones in the photo. I hope that you finger mends soon. I am hoping that this stream is nearing the finishing line like these boats and we will have a new "race" soon. ;)
13 Chuck Uebele   (5/16/2007 9:52:07 AM)
Good action shot. I like how the spinnaker's light values are kept & how it makes the rest of the bg look gray. I could see the orange buoy out of the image. Hope your finger recovers soon!
14 CherylB (I only lie when I do not like your pic)   (5/16/2007 9:55:08 AM)
without the buoy it's just another boat pic..the buoy gives it the feeling of "racing"

#10 CherylB(Love will make a run love for everyone~):
I made a comment on sergei photo, I didn't ask for dialogue with you old woman. Get lost.
16 CherylB (I only lie when I do not like your pic)   (5/16/2007 10:06:47 AM)
Sergei, can you please tell nuno to quit calling me old lady? if he doesn't I should be allowed to call him what I think he is..

#16 CherylB(Love will make a run love for everyone~): We would all love to do that..
18 Amuletum ( )   (5/16/2007 10:35:25 AM)
dynamic shot, Serega. I also like the splash of orange in the buoy and feels it lends to the racing action. I like that you can see the soles of his shoes. :-) And it does look cold.

Hope your finger gets better soon. I hear they're very painful.

you have not lost your touch...nice job broken finger and all.
20 ckldybr (A perfect photo is just a click away)   (5/16/2007 11:57:10 AM)
Hey, Serega!! Sorry to hear about your finger. Did the boats have to go around the bouy? If so it looks like the boat behind missed. Amazing how close together they are. How fast are they going? This is a difficult shot. How did you anchor the camera to get it so clear? I'm sure you had a tripod, but wasn't the boat you're on moving as well? A difficult image to capture, even without a broken finger.
I'd like to see Svilen(and aliases) banned for stealin images, Nuno(and aliases) banned for being so rude. His behavior is the definition of Moronic. And yes a new stream is needed. Take care. Barb.
21 herman blockx   (5/16/2007 2:03:34 PM)
a fine job ! clarity and details are very good; and an even greater and difficult catch if taken from a sailing boat;

#16 CherylB(Chopped Liver ): You mean a dick!

Cause he is you know.

Hi Sergei, forget the new stream, Coke Machine please.
23 Sergei Samus (Serega to friends)     (5/16/2007 3:36:53 PM)
Thanks everyone.
The orange buoy is there on purpose, indicating the finishing line. This way it has more value for sport documentary (

#20 ckldybr(Had a great time in Tampa!): Barb, these boats are fast, the world fastest non-trapezing doublehanded monohulls. The speed in this case is about 15 knots. Tripod doesn't work in these conditions: very choppy, so it was hand-held. On top of this it was also raining and there was not much light.
24 gdanger (George Dangerfield)   (5/16/2007 5:25:37 PM)
A perfectly captured slice of this exciting sports action Serega, I'm impressed how you managed so well under the conditions at hand, excellent detail and exposure!
25 ulol   (5/16/2007 5:46:23 PM)
great action shot dude! although i would like to have a "full sail" shot, it is still very cool exciting capture. i believe you dont drink ..but lifting beer bottles is the best therapy for broken it the middle finger? i hope you can still "raise" it
26 Sergei Samus (Serega to friends)     (5/16/2007 6:16:41 PM)
#24 gdanger(All you need is Love ): George, you mean conditions at MY hand? :o)

#25 ulol: no, it's a ring one. Thanks, I might try a beer compress instead.

28 Rodger   (5/16/2007 7:56:37 PM)

Thats allot of sail for such a small hull
I bet they fly
29 Tim Pereira ( T-Bear)   (5/16/2007 9:16:43 PM)
This is very nice, only thing is I wish we coudl see more of the people on the boat, but great shot!!

Where was this at?
30 MJFerron   (5/16/2007 10:14:54 PM)
It's good. Don't think it's as perfect as a few folks do but in a day of boring photos I place it 2nd. :0
31 Jouko   (5/17/2007 1:31:29 AM)
Good to have you back, Sergei.....
Sorry to hear about your broken finger, but as we can see, it´s not not your shutter finger ;)
Excellent action shot!

#23 Sergei Samus(Serega to friends):
Serega is this a video, where you captured just one frame? I've been told that video is the new wave of photography so to speak. At least for sports and news reporting. They take videos, than capture one frame, and make photos of that.
Understanding that the bouy is the finish line, explains why the man's hand is raised. I thought perhaphs he was waving to you, but in fact it's a victory wave. Nice. Take care. barb.
33 Sergei Samus (Serega to friends)     (5/17/2007 6:19:23 AM)
#32 ckldybr(Had a great time in Tampa!):
Barb, it's not a video, otherwise I'd probably have to spend a fortune for a video camera to produce 12M pixel frames ;o)
Yes, you are right this is a victory gesture (these guys came 2nd in the result of four races)
