Complimenti!
3 Stephen Bonk   (3/10/2006 8:00:27 PM)
I love this Les. The smooth water is great. Sure is very clear and noise free for a 30 second exposure. Is that the result of the MK II or your post processing?
4 David Hemmings   (3/10/2006 8:02:56 PM)
Wow, this is unreal!Lovely colors and feel to this image, superb!
5 Les McLean (**** ))     (3/10/2006 8:03:59 PM)
#3 Stephen Bonk: It's down mainly to the MKII, it's got a noise reduction feature inbuilt for long exposures, it holds up pretty well.
6 Stephen Bonk   (3/10/2006 8:09:18 PM)
#5 Les McLean: Thanks for the answer Les. I keep coming back and looking at this.
7 maxsusnik   (3/10/2006 8:12:14 PM)

Literally took my breath away! Other-worldly. I would think this must be a personal best/favorite of yours?
9 Reidar   (3/10/2006 8:42:36 PM)
Really a beauty. Would like to see this big as a poster hanging on the wall. Excellent!!

Magnificent!!!
18 George Oze   (3/11/2006 1:25:32 AM)
Nice sweeping vista, but the cool blue overdominates this picture and makes it a bit uninteresting for me.
19 Hans (photography or politics?)   (3/11/2006 2:07:39 AM)
Moody and beautiful
20 Peter Beddek   (3/11/2006 2:21:07 AM)

Wonderful moody scene and great color, Les!
23 steve sharpe     (3/11/2006 4:42:39 AM)
Striking colours Les, the reflections in the water realy makes it jump from the screen. Love the way you have caught the mist rolling down over the foothills,
Regards Steve

Rather astonishing and looks very good after tapping the black & white button too.
25 Rudi Van Gestel   (3/11/2006 6:12:34 AM)
Agree with #1
26 Lockhart   (3/11/2006 6:20:57 AM)
I wish I could vote but the dreaded author guard protects you from a 9.8 or so for this fabulous shot. I was there and have about 15 but none of mine captured the scene like this one. Outstanding work Mr. McLean. Not bad for a former Scot. :-)
27 DPS (David Stevenson)   (3/11/2006 6:42:37 AM)
Absolutely lovely.
28 Claudia Robinson (looie's mom :-o)   (3/11/2006 8:53:55 AM)

31 Ralfs World (www. ralfsworld.com)   (3/11/2006 11:20:06 AM)
Excellent colours!
32 Uma Sethuraman (M A H E S H)   (3/11/2006 11:55:57 AM)
All the photos from this place has this blue tone. Is it that everyone (you, docmm, bill's) took your shot during twilight hour or filter or some white balance setup or is this place always like this - blueish dreamy ?

I like the dreamy mood!
33 Les McLean (**** ))     (3/11/2006 12:00:51 PM)
#32 Uma Sethuraman: This part of Scotland has it's own special light, Bill tried to bottle some to take it back to the States ;-)

This was taken at twilight,, and the long exposure the quality of light resulted in the blue tones.
Those that remember shooting in Velvia will remember this effect well.
34 Christopher Azzopardi   (3/11/2006 1:20:17 PM)
Wonderful!
35 Jouko   (3/11/2006 2:11:35 PM)

37 docmm   (3/11/2006 2:34:00 PM)
Trust you to make the most of this.
Etheral atmosphere and as smooth as silk.
38 Keith Frost   (3/11/2006 2:41:24 PM)
Deserves all the attention this is getting. I really like the colour and the mist just creates such a serene feeling. One of your best - Keith
39 Greg (Greg Governale)   (3/11/2006 2:43:54 PM)
I like the mood, I keep wishing for something in the fg for more interest and depth. Pleasing to look at, with interesting color! Greg Governale
40 Waleed   (3/11/2006 2:51:07 PM)
it is Perfect
41 Les McLean (**** ))     (3/11/2006 2:52:48 PM)
#39 Greg(Greg Governale): I partly agree Greg, I was in two minds about posting this, as I usually like a firm anchor for my images, and wasn't sure if the FG reflections were strong enough to hold it together?
42 CherylB (mark polis is an asshole dick combo)     (3/11/2006 3:45:07 PM)
I tried last week to get something decent, I used a tripod, same lens, mirror lockup, an electronic shutter release, and an nd grad but it doesn't' have that nice smooth look. do I need to do longer exposures? drop my camera in the water? what?
this is nice, I really like the fg how it slowly appears as you look at this.
43 joe bellantoni   (3/11/2006 4:12:49 PM)
Les the tone and mood are fantastic in this but I really miss that patented rock in the fg....
44 Les McLean (**** ))     (3/11/2006 4:15:06 PM)
#43 joe bellantoni: LOL, I know, but Mel wouldn't lend me hers ;-)
45 btezra   (3/11/2006 7:15:39 PM)
~the etherreal quality this frame possesses just blows me away, it is quite possibly the best image I have seen from you, the color, the minimal content the overall impact and appeal visually are all xlnt, superb work Les~
46 Ruud (they just ain't worth it)     (3/11/2006 7:29:05 PM)
A rock in the FG would change the poetry into the obvious, good landscape.
Your best!
47 Terry Forrest (Teresa Forrest)     (3/11/2006 11:15:36 PM)
Did you post this just for me, Les???? LOL - I find it utterly and completely gorgeously FANTASTIC, particularly since it's in my favorite color AND that there's reflections, but there's so much else that's so great about it as well!! I LOVE IT!

In almost 6 years on PB, I may not have even given ten 10 votes, mainly because I save the 10 votes for photos that I think can not be changed one little bit to make them better. This, IMO, deserves a 10!

Terry

P.S. Please, pretty please, e-mail me at 1of3trees@prodigy.net. I want to buy a print of it from you!
48 Corry   (3/12/2006 4:16:28 AM)
Stunning and great!
49 cARTerART (Claire Carter)   (3/12/2006 6:34:01 AM)
This is stunning - a fg anchor would have spoilt it, distrupting the flow of silk
50 FrankT ( pot'hbe'chug yay qa)   (3/12/2006 7:15:05 AM)
my new desktop bg....

big blue. fantastic
53 Kenn Reay   (3/16/2006 4:09:06 PM)
This is so strong and the reflections so delicate that it didnt occur to me that it needed a FG anchor. Amazing, fantastic clouds. Kenn
54 Hassan   (3/19/2006 1:54:00 PM)
Wondeful mood , tones , and well composed , well done
55 Viki (Viktor Čater)   (4/2/2006 2:40:13 PM)
