Joe - I do like your suggested crop and tend to prefer softer images for woodlands - it remove harsh contrast and bright highlights which are distracting in many woodland scenes.

Ceri, I love the colors and the comp and they combine to yield a nice mood.

I would have preferred the sharper approach because my eye has no anchor here, no CoI. I'm wandering around the image.
The shadow patterns, enhanced by more clarity, would have stabilized things better (for me).

But still, very nice.

Mark - I take your point - in terms of sharpness it is a soft image, there is a gaussian blur soft light filter applied for creation of mood but I do also seem to lose a lot of detail and sharpness creating images of just 150Kb, but I presume this has been a focus of dicussion historically - such small images requirements do seem a little harsh.
