Beautiful image Dale. Only thing I don't like is the sky. Early morning sky isn't the best I know.

This is really an amazing photo. The deep black transition to the washed out white on top must have been hard to capture. The only thing I don't like is that the tops of the peaks seem to have been washed out a bit. Maybe this is just the scan?

I agree on the morning sky Allen, as a general rule I try to not include it but here I have the sunlight just starting to glow on the mountain tops and blue in the sky.

This is a 30 meg scan and I had reduced it to 140k and last night i truied to post it but there is a limit of 100k here. I had to resize this and the image is a bit degraded but it is not washed out.

Dale, I have study this picture & I am at a lost on something. The shy is so bright & the button of this picture is so dark. Could you explain why? Filter maybe?

Sure Lin. It is early in the morning before sunrise and the mountain we are looking at is at 12,500 feet in elevation. There is also a mountain that is tall behind the camera. I am in a canyon ok. This lake is nestled there and the sun is just now coming over the Nevada skyline (behind me and the mountain that is behind me also) giving a slight edge of light, which is pink. The lake is dark because it has no light hitting it yet but in about 10 minutes the peaks will be way to bright and then the lake will become blue. This is what is know as magic hour.

Dale, this is gorgeous.

Thank You Tania. The initial scan looks so much better and the detail is very clear. In the reduction of file size I lost quite a bit of the image but I posted it anyway. I will post another from that morning, keeping it under 100k is difficult but I will give it hell trying!

This is beautifully done, Dale!

I kind of agree about the sky (maybe a slight crop would help) but the colors are strong and so is the composition. I guess it pays to get up early and yes, I'm also annoyed by the 100k limit. (7.75)
